What Fresh Hell is This?

Oh yeah, it's Saturday. The weekend is usually a good thing, right? Well, tonight we are going to a local Induction Ceremony for a high school Hall of Fame. Not so bad. Not my choice of how to spend the evening, but I'm happy for the honoree we know and he asked us to come.

The bad part: it's a banquet. I'm perfectly happy to eat before we go anywhere, but dread the idea of pushing the iceberg lettuce around on my plate and pretending it's appetizing and exactly what I wanted to eat. And that I'm sure will be better than then entree. Combine that with the deluge of questions, and I'll actually be glad when dinner ends and the speeches start. Fun, huh?

To put ourselves in the mood for the event, we'll be enjoying Salt and Pepper Tofu, braised broccolini and rice before we leave.

Were you wondering when I was going to get to dinner last night? Now is the time. Oh my God. It was the Penna a la Vodka from Chubby Vegan. And it was sensational. I made a 1/2 recipe of the sauce and used some extra garlic and regular penne, but otherwise no changes. We tried to save some of the sauce to have on a pizza, but when we had leftovers for lunch today I ended up being a saucy wench and using it. It is so good that it made me want to make every Friday night Pasta Night. That with a fire in the fireplace, a glass of merlot.... perfection!

Whew... I'm so glad that first post is out of the way! And thanks to Dorothy Parker for stating my mood so concisely for this morning.
