Guess what? Ricki, commenter #42 won the copy of Speed Vegan. She was unlucky in getting a ticket, but I'm sure her luck is changing. After all, she won this contest. And Ellen is reading her book! Congratulations, Ricki. Please email me your mailing address so I can get this in the mail.
By the way, Sarah, are you out there? I can't contact you through blogger, so please get in touch. The slow cooker cookbook will be waiting for you until Thursday, May 6th. But if I don't hear from you then, I'll have to redraw. Thanks again to the Book Publishing Company for donating the books for these great contests. You guys keep commenting and I think they'll keep doing it. What a huge way for them to support veganism.
On to the food! We've had a habit of really celebrating the first night that's nice enough to grill outside. We have wine and follow the dinner with scrabble. This year, we've decided to name it a real holiday, Grinner, which stands for grilled dinner. It was extra special because we happened to get some ramps! These are just tossed with a little oil, salt and pepper before being grilled. They are so mellow and delicious. We also grilled some cauliflower and had some Israeli couscous to accompany the marinated grilled seitan cutlet. (By the way, I won that scrabble game if you were curious.)
Food Network Friday is coming up on May 14th. We're working on this dish for Spanish Moorish Chops that Liz suggested. To play along, just veganize it however you'd like and either email me or post a link to your blog on that day's post . This one sounds really good, so jump in! Don't miss Liz's incredible review of American Vegan Kitchen while you're at her blog.
Clea: I've never gotten a ticket for speeding. Whew!
Coming soon: another book contest, so be sure to check back. And try to keep the pedal off the metal.

That sounds like a great new tradition. I love the name.
We're still waiting for grilling weather here.
