The Winner and A Few More Reviews

I know, I know, I said I’d be back with a recipe. But I haven’t decided which one to post for a fun announcement, so I’m hoping this quickie post will hold you until then.

Now, for some quickie reviews:

Vivian Sharpe, an ebook, by Marla Rose
This book is creative, inspiring and fun to read. I found myself identifying with the characters in this book as they all contained bits of people I know or have known. With a great story line, it might be geared towards early teens to teens, you’ll like it, too. (Marla generously gave me a free download. Thank you, Marla!).

Earth Balance Mindful Mayo
I might be late to the party on this one as it’s been out for a while, but it is worth mentioning as it is really delicious stuff. I tend to buy the reduced fat vegenaise, but I have to say that this one beats it flavor-wise. (Earth Balance sent me a couple of coupons to try it. Thank you, Earth Balance!).

Evol Burritos
What a great late night snack. These brought back memories of coming home from Jim’s punk shows when we’d stop at Taco Bell. These are way more wholesome, taste better, and can be enjoyed at home instead of in the car. These are a go-to for Jim when he wants something and I don’t. Note: Not all varieties are vegan. (Coupons were provided by Evol. Thanks Evol!).

Vegetarian Plus Black Pepper Steaks
If you like any of the Gardein prepared food items sold at the Whole Foods deli counter, you’ll love these. Not being a big fan of Gardein’s texture, these weren’t more thing. However, the sauce was fantastic. These would be a great frozen food for people transitioning to less meat in their diets. (Thank you, Vegetarian Plus for the coupons!).

Trenipoti Vegan Pasta
I’m not sure how widely available this is, but it’s new to our Whole Foods. It’s in the freezer section and is almost as good as homemade pasta. When you don’t want the mess, but want the pasta, it’s the way to go. We prefer the thicker varieties over the Angel Hair, but they are all well worth the cost. (These we just found and bought).

Vegan Minute from Nava Atlas
These one minute videos are new from the talented Nava Atlas. The collection is sure to grow, so keep an eye out. Thanks for yet another great resource, Nava!

    I am deeply devoted to my Vegenaise, but you have me nearly sold on the Earth Balance mayo. Adding it to the grocery list!

    Lizzie, I love my vegenaise, too. More than I should, to be honest. If they just made this stuff in a lower fat version, I’d stick to EB forever. I’ll be curious to hear what you think.
