Charred Chili and Blackberry Barbecue Skewers

Canned:

  • Charred Chili Barbecue Sauce (from Put ‘Em Up) sub: barbecue sauce with added canned chili peppers
  • Blackberry Jam (Low Sugar from the Pomona Pectin package) sub: any fruit jam

The charred chili bbq sauce has a bit of a bite to it. It’s not really the heat, but more of a sharpness. I added a few dollops of blackberry jam to the sauce to round it out a little and it worked like a charm. The blackberries gave it more of a fruity undertone than all out flavor, and really brought the whole thing together. The skewer has seitan, bell pepper, and onion.

The result? An easy peasy meal that I’d proudly serve anyone.

Just wanted to say that I love your Mofo theme! Makes me want to find ways to use up all the stuff I’ve canned in the past year!

Have you tried anything from that Tart & Sweet book yet? I keep on leafing through it on amazon, it’s just so damn pretty.

That book is beautiful, I agree. I’ve only made one thing:the soy ginger garlic cherry tomatoes. They are super potent!!!
