Book Talk and Contests!

As you probably know, our blog tour  started today for Whole Grain Vegan Baking! Stop over at Weekly Vegan Menu to get our recipe for Pesto Knots, and try your luck at winning a copy of the book. We’ve got about 2 weeks of kind bloggers who will be sharing our book with you, so don’t miss a day. The more you read, the better your chances to win a copy, too!

Grills Gone Vegan is out and we’re working on some fun promotional ideas for that one, too. So stay tuned. In the meantime, you might want to take lots of pictures of what you are cooking from the book…..(hint hint).

In honor of the PPK Cookalong featuring Vegan Sandwiches Save the Day! from June 1oth to 23rd , I’m giving away 2 copies. All you have to do is comment on this post with something to do with sandwiches. Anything about sandwiches! The winner will be chosen at random on Wednesday, May 22th. So act fast! (US and Canadian shipping only, please).

Talk to me about sandwiches! Go!

*************The contest is closed. Congratulation to Laurie and Rhizo! Thanks to all who entered.*************

One of my favourite sandwiches is a fresh, crusty roll spread with Vegenaise and filled with fresh sliced tomatoes sprinkled with salt and cracked pepper. Yum!

As the weather is getting nicer I have sandwiches on my mind. They make the perfect food to pack for road trips and picnics, and are great when it’s too hot to heat up the kitchen or eat hot food.

My dream sandwich: grilled eggplant and red bell peppers with hummus, romaine, red onion and giardiniera. Bring it!

My dream sandwich? Well, I’ve never tried a Vietnamese Banh Mi. I keep hearing about them so much, I feel like I’m missing out!

I have been trying to think up some great sandwiches for lunches and dinners since the weather is getting warmer too (this cookbook would be a great gift since I have been running low on ideas). I really love a good spread with tons of fresh veggies, also super addicted to bahn mi style sandwiches. Avocado as the fat component is another fav.

Sandwiches are awesome! I can’t wait for the summer – jersey tomatoes with a little salt and pepper on bread with some vegenaise – I’m psyched!

I am looking forward to the arrival of summer vegetables to make tasty, fresh tasting sandwiches.

I’ve really been looking forward to these weeks of the challenge! God, I love sandwiches. It seems that just recently I’m starting to branch out and try very different ones, instead of just grilled veggies or something. I can’t wait to see what delicious recipes are in this book and look forward to summer tomatoes!

I just Vegan Sandwiches… from the library for a second time yesterday! It’s incredible. I am attempting to memorize the recipes because I’m moving soon, so it’s not a good time for me to stock up on vital wheat gluten and other necessary ingredients.

    Here’s my sandwich story:

I went to First Friday in Denver and had my first vegan Banh Mi sandwich from a food truck. I was walking around with my friends, going into all these chic galleries with well-dressed people sipping wine. Meanwhile, I was gobbling down this messy, yet delicious sandwich. One of my classiest food moments!

I will happily talk to you about sandwiches! Poor returning grad student here has not purchased your book or anything else much lately, but has been attending to the reviews. I was able to access your recipe for Moo-Free Seitan via books.google.com. I made the oven version. The only word I have for it is: incredible. Texture and taste. I carved slices off of it, salvaged sliced onion from the braising liquid, piled it all on baguette, and dipped it in a little cup of strained braising liquid. Most delicious French dip I could imagine!

The best sandwich I ever had was at one of the many cult-adjacent restaurants in San Francisco. It was a huge slab of “meatloaf” covered in bbq sauce on a ciabatta. That was about three years ago and I still pine for another one!

This morning I was at Whole Foods and they have a new tofu bahn mi in the prepared food section. I didn’t get one because I was nervous it couldn’t hold a candle to the awesome bahn mi at Mandoline Grill (a food truck). Then all I wanted was a bahn mi from Mondoline but they’re not scheduled anywhere this weekend. It was a sad day. I need to make bahn mi at home so I can have it whenever I want.

Sandwiches can be the best way to have a meal-to-go! Protein, carbs & veggies in a hand-held “plate”.

Sandwiches so much easier since I make my own 100%. whole wheat bread in my bread machine. Winning this book will give me more variety. Thanks.
